A Little History...

My wife and I have always loved dogs - she had a Cockapoo when she was a kid, and I had an Irish Setter.  When we started our lives together, we both thought it would be nice to have a furry companion to share it with.  Our Maltese, Cotton, fit right in with our small apartment and busy work schedule.

She was the perfect companion - she loved to cuddle up close with us on the couch, and we both lavished her with lots of attention!  We always felt guilty about leaving her at home alone, and we thought she would like to have a companion to keep her company and cavort with when she was bored.  A year after bringing Cotton into our lives, Graham, a fuzzy white and brown Cockapoo, also joined our little family.

The two were peas in a pod.  Cotton was a proper princess-type, Graham was the court jester/clown, ready to play at a moment's notice.  Graham & Cotton have given us much happiness over the years - every dollar we spent to keep them healthy, and every sacrifice we made to make them comfortable was well worth it, as they've given us much more worth in happiness than any amount of money we could have ever spent on them.

This past January, we lost our beloved Graham at only 9 years old.  A cancerous tumor that had developed in his nasal passage metastasized and spread to his lungs.  We had only about a week before life for him had become too difficult.  He couldn't eat or sleep, and breathing for him was becoming especially hard.  We made the painful decision to let him finally rest.

This year has been especially difficult without our little boy.  We never really thought we'd get another dog.  Cotton is 11 now, and has some health problems herself, but she is happy.  In August, we met an adorable Irish Doodle pup (we later named him Cooper), and we knew that he would be the next addition to our family.

Stay tuned...

Welcome!

I don't really know how to start these things, so I'll just start by saying "Hi" and welcome to our blog!

Almost two months ago, my wife and I took the big step of adding another family member to our household - an Irish Doodle pup!  His name is Cooper, and he was born on June 7th, so he's nearly 4 months old now.  I'll try my best to get everything caught up from the time we bought him up until the current day, so you'll get a good idea of what we've been through thus far(!)

Of course, what would a blog about a puppy be without pictures!  I'll try to include as many as I can (without it seeming gratuitous!)

I hope that our experience might help others when raising their own puppies - or, if you just like reading about puppy antics (or you just like Irish Doodles) we hope you're at least entertained!
